"I found the LIKE project to be very difficult. In reading the brief, and the subsequent literature that followed I found myself wanting to do the project correctly - to have a total loss of self and ego and get to the right answer, to make the original object. In a way I became obsessed with what the object might be - or could be, to the point of paralysis in my workings on the project. In the stage of creating the work for this exhibition I never truly figured it out. In human relational communication there are so many levels of interpretation, so many ways to communicate - both poorly and precisely. The end result of my work for this project is a conglomeration of what I think some of the true elements are in the original object. In the end, I finally gave in to my own artistic voice - through this project I have learned that I couldn't step away from my own visual language or myself very easily."
