“Yes. What a fun experiment to be part of. The poem would be all suggestions and emotive responses to Stella's piece and I would supply my response to these vague signposts. No. The poem arrived and was very descriptive but as text more was missing than supplied. It became a deciphering game and I was Stella's technician. I had to try and make coherent guesses in someone else's language. It almost made me mute. I sweated over it. I hadn't realised I had so much ego invested in my own work. Colour was not mentioned so I bought some disgustingly pink spray paint and tagged my own mark on the otherwise foreign work. When I showed the piece to my sister she didn't recognise it as mine. It was a cuckoo.”
